Two life long sports enthusiasts met at a bar in Arlington, VA. There love of sports was one of many things they bonded over. One thing they did not bond over: a love of NASCAR. FURY was all in [for decades] and JNRG was a skeptic at best. As time passed, JNRG reluctantly began watching and much to her surprise became hooked. The strategic nature of racing is something that doesn’t come across in the mainstream media takes of the sport. She relied on FURY for the nuts, bolts and basics, because for new NASCAR fans, there seems to be a gap in the media landscape for [welcoming] informational and education content. Everything she found was a race recap, which was less than helpful for a rookie. Their marital bond now incorporates a love of NASCAR and Student Driver is a space to welcome new fans and connect with more than just race recaps.

BEHIND THE WHEEL

Living, breathing proof that you can teach an old dog new tricks. I wasn't introduced to NASCAR (and then subsequently F1 and MotoGP) until well into my mid thirties. After letting go over every misconception I had about racing, I became addicted to every aspect of the lifestyle. Because in my humble opinion, it's is not a sport, but a lifestyle. While the media landscape of has no shortage of race recaps and good ole' boys round tables about the glory days of drivers past, there is a lack of need-to-know content for rookies who have caught the bug. I'm on a mission to find others, like myself, who just don't know what their missing and give them a space to exist in the wild world of Motorsports.
